Hockersville Road Property Plans

Last Tuesday at the Derry Township Board of Supervisors meeting, resident Rich Gamble proposed to the board that the Hockersville Road Property (former site of the police station) be utilized to expand the township's fire department. Currently the property is owned by the Derry Township Industrial and Commercial Development Authority and is being leased to the Patt Company. Patt was granted variances to build a hotel. However, residents appealed the decision and are awaiting a decision by Judge Klinefelter of the Dauphin County Court of Common Pleas. How do you feel this property would best serve the residents of Derry Township?

If fire dept. wants to expand they should have a second station in TWP, closer to the other end of twp. (southpoint area) to shorten response time to that area. currently Hummelstown FD is quicker than Hershey especially fighting down town traffic.
